The new Dodge Dart just debuted at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show and Mopar is already polishing off its tuning accessories for the revived model. Chrysler’s performance arm is offering over 150 accessories for the compact sedan, from exterior and interior add-ons to performance updates, each ready to take full advantage of the Dart’s base look.

The technological add-ons alone are enough to jump on the Mopar bandwagon, with features such as vehicle-information apps, an Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS), and WiTECH leading the pack. There are also a ton of upgrades to buff up the the exterior, including a carbon fiber scooped hood, a chrome aluminum grille, and 18-inch wheels in a unique Mopar design, polished spokes, and black-painted pockets. The rear of the Dart can benefit from a matte black rear deck lid spoiler, a chrome fuel door, and matte black side sills that attach to the side rocker panels for a sportier appearance. The interior can join in on the fun with a new pedal kit and industry-first wireless charging.[...]

The Summernats is an annual festival for gearheads that takes place in the Australian capital city of Canberra in January drawing some 1,500 heavily modded street machines along with more than 80,000 visitors from Australia and overseas.

The year 2012 started off with quite a bang for Renntech. Their updated version of the Mercedes SLR - already known for being the world’s fastest SLR - established a new quarter-mile record of 9.76 seconds at a speed of 140.8 mph. This new time smashes its previous record of 10.29 seconds and 134mph established in October 2011.

The Mercedes SLR used for the record-breaking run was equipped with a Mansory Renovatio bodykit, a new set of Agetro M140 Monoblock wheels, and a custom interior. The engine was obviously hooked up; it put a modified supercharger to good use, along with larger heat exchangers, a more efficient intercooler pump, prototype race headers, a limited slip differential, and a modified the five-speed transmission to handle the extra power. As a result, the SLR delivers an amazing 800 HP![...]

Back in 1962, Carol Shelby built his first updated Mustang and now, as a celebration of their 50th anniversary, Shelby is offering a special edition Mustang in three different variants: the GTS, GT350, and Super Snake. Each model will be built in a limited run of 100 units, 50 white and 50 black, and will all be combined with gold racing stripes.

The most powerful version, the Super Snake, delivers a total of 750 HP and comes with a unique body kit, an upgraded interior, and a new set of wheels painted in matte black.

Prices for the new models are as follows: the Shelby GTS is priced at $19,995 for the V-6 and $24,995 for the V-8; the GT350 is priced at $59,995; and the Super Snake is priced at $59,995. All prices do not include the price for the standard 2012 Mustang GT or the Shelby GT500 for the Super Snake version.[...]

Shelby is celebrating 50 years of high-octane activity and the company is throwing a birthday party at the Detroit Auto Show through the launch of a new 50th Anniversary Edition Shelby GTS, GT350 and Super Snake.

Only 50 white and 50 black units of each will be built, which means that they have a collectible status right from the start, with all the vehicles wearing gold stripes.

Each car comes with goodies such as commemorative 50th anniversary badging, custom interiors, special wheels, 6... [...]

The new year has only just begun and there are already tuning firms out there ready to set the bar up as high as they can. For their part, German tuner Inden Design has created a new kit for the beautiful Mercedes SLS AMG that leaves the exterior and interior changes on the wayside to focus on performance instead.

Usually we like a little aesthetic tweak here and there, but we’re not going to complain if Inden Design wants to put all of their eggs in one performance basket. The tuning company made significant changes to both the engine’s ECU and exhaust system, adding sportskats and manifold, to boost the 6.2 liter V8 engine’s output by 52 HP. This leaves the sports car with 623 HP and 479 lb-ft of torque, up from 571 HP.[...]
