With only a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine at it's disposal, the Honda Civic Type R never got to shine in the hothatch market like rivals from Ford and Renault. However, that hasn't stopped in-house specialists MUGEN from trying to make it better and better.

So what if the Frankfurt Motor Show is only two weeks away; it’s never too early to jump ahead and preview a car that’s scheduled to make its debut at the Geneva Auto Show next March. At least that’s what BMW tuning company, Alpina, has decided to do with a preview of their new tuning program for the BMW 6-Series Convertible.

Called the ’B6 Bi-Turbo Cabrio’, Alpina has improved the luxury cabriolet’s performance capabilities by adding its own twin-turbo system - hence the name - and dialing up the 6-Series Convertible’s 4.4-liter V8 engine from the standard output of 400 horsepower and 450 lb/ft of torque all the way up to 500 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 516 lb/ft of torque between 3,000 and 4,750 rpm. The 25% increase in output allows the Alpina-tuned ’B6 Bi-Turbo Cabrio’ to hit 0-62 mph in just 4.8 seconds (up from 4.9) with a top speed hitting an impressive 193 mph, a stark improvement from the standard model’s electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.[...]

Brabus, along with street fashion brand, WeSC, is headed to the Frankfurt Motor Show with another product of the Automotive/Fashion world. Their little collaboration yielded a tailor made Smart ForTwo Cabrio and a special set of headphones specially designed for the Smart by WeSC.

This special Smart will be sparkling in gold shades throughout the exterior - part matte, part high-gloss - with all of the colors created for the Swedish label by automotive tuning firm, Brabus. The gold paint has been combined with black wheels and black leather seats with crossways quilting that bears the unmistakeable signature of the street style experts.[...]

The Renault Clio RS is one of the spiciest hothatches on the market and it seems that now there is someone who wants to add an extra topping. We are talking about German aftermarket developer MR Car Design, which has prepared a few technical upgrades for the French vehicle.

 After the news about the LFA Nürburgring Edition's lap time of 7:14.64 at Nordschleife racetrack started circulating around the web, Lexus decided today to confirm the feat with an official statement, and more importantly, in-car video footage.

 The LFA Nürburgring Edition package is available only on 50 of the 500 LFA cars that are planned to be built.

Changes over the standard model include a more powerful 4.8-liter V10 with 571PS (+11ps), a faster 6-speed sequential transmission, carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic front apron and rear wing, a lower and more aggressively tuned suspension plus mesh-type alloys fitted with higher-grip tires.[...]
