The Ferrari 340 Mexico Berlineta is one of the most unique cars on the market, fetching an astounding $4.3 million at the RM Auctions in March 2011. That princely sum is justified considering the 340 Mexico only consists of three different chassis, each built exclusively for the 1952 Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico. One of these units, chassis number 0224 AT driven by Luigi Chinetti, was successful in crossing the finish lane in third place behind two Mercedes 300SL Gullwing models and this is the car GWA Tuning has chosen to celebrate with a tributary model.

Using a Ferrari 456 platform as a base, GWA Tuning was able to bring the classic 340 Mexico Berlinetta to modern times. This 456 platform was re-bodied by Coach Building master, Mark Nungent, from Australia. The body was then fixed up with a new diffuser, rear spoiler, side vents, and front splitters, all from newer Ferraris. The body was also stretched by about 15 inches (mostly in the middle) to fit the new platform, but the wheelbase remained the same.[...]

 While Land Rover will be testing the design waters for the next generation of the iconic Defender with its DC100 Concept in Frankfurt, British tuning firm Project Kahn is already imagining ways of enhancing and personalizing the potential replacement for the automaker's most famous model through some photoshop wizardry.

 Project Kahn dreamed up four different variants of the DC100, the first of which simply features a white paint job along with the tuning firm's trademark multispoke alloy wheels finished in black.[...]

 German tuners have no problem taking their projects to the extreme. One such example is CLP Automotive's tuning proposal for the latest BMW M3 Coupe called the Interceptor that attempts to replicate the look and feel of the M3 GT racecar that recently participated in the 24 hours of Nürburgring where it finished in second place.

CLP Automotive begins with a wide body kit that adds blistered front and rear wheel arches together with matching rocker panels and bumpers, a new hood with additional vents and a central dome, plus a large fixed rear wing.[...]

For more than four decades now, German tuning house Alpina has been modifying BMWs cars. The Bavarian luxury carmaker has a tight relationship with the tuner going as far distributing the high-performance models through its official network.

Alpina's newest creation is the B6 Bi-Turbo Cabrio based on the latest 6-Series Convertible, which will make its world premiere at the rapidly approaching Frankfurt auto show on September 13.[...]

Some people just can’t have enough of a good thing, can they? Take for example the BMW M3. As a standard model, the car is already equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 414 horsepower and 295 lb/ft of torque. But for German tuning company, CLP Automotive, that just won’t cut it. Actually, for these guys, a standard BMW M3 isn’t even enough. Not only have they developed a sick tuning program for the M3, but this particular program actually turns the M3 into a GT race car.

Aerodynamically, CLP gave the M3 all the goodies found in a GT race car, including a new front wing, an engine bonnet, a side channel bar and sidewall jet, a new rear apron, a pair of redesigned spoilers, and a set of 19" sports wheels. For the interior, the German tuning firm added Recaro bucket seats and a roll cage, as well as undergoing a number of weight saving measures.

Finally, CLP developed a power optimization program for the M3 that spikes the output of the sportscar from the standard 414 horsepower all the way up to 600 horsepower. In addition to the PO program, technical improvements like an optimized Bilstein-thread and a new Akrapovic titanium exhaust system are also included.[...]
