Prior Design is no stranger to the Mercedes SL R230, having provided an aggressive package for the sports car just last year. That model was inspired by the Mercedes SLS AMG - hence the aggressive nature - and was a signed, sealed, and delivered success. This time around, Prior Design has opted for milder design modifications to the exterior and interior, but the result is just as scintillating as the first.

The new Mercedes SL R230 Black Edition by Prior Design still gets a bit of edge from the body kit provided, with a new front bumper, front fenders, front bonnet, and front lip spoiler exaggerating the curves of the SL model’s original front end. The same idea is carried along the side of the vehicle with new, pronounced side skirts that direct the attention on back to the modified rear end. The most noticeable change for the rear is the new trunk spoiler, but a new bumper, rear widenings, and a rear diffuser have also been added. Then there’s the new set of wheels with concave design at the back and the replacement windshield water tank to wrap things up.[...]

 Four years after the presentation of the CTR3, and it's time for Porsche tuning specialist RUF to tweak its mid-engine supercar.

 The newest CTR3 continues to use the Porsche 911-derived 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder boxer engine, but thanks to a series of modifications, output has been boosted from 691bhp and 890Nm (657 lb-ft) to 750bhp and 960 Nm (708 lb-ft) of peak torque.

The more powerful CTR3 accelerates from standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and to 125 mph (200 km) in 9.6 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 236 mph (380 km/h).[...]

On the design front, the car is outfitted with a new front bumper, aerodynamic side skirts, a revised rear apron and a trunk-mounted spoiler.[...]

 While American buyers will have to wait until October to see the iQ in Scion's showrooms, over in Europe, the Japanese carmaker's 3+1 seat mini has been on sale since the beginning of 2009.

 But despite being in the market for more than two years, the iQ hasn't really caught the attention of the aftermarket tuners. One of the few companies to warm up to the iQ is Bulgarian customizer Vilner, which has introduced a more luxurious take on the Toyota's interior.[...]

On the heels of the upgrades made by Mercedes tuner extraordinaire, Brabus, for the 2011 S-Class, another noted aftermarket company is releasing their program for the high-end luxury car.

While the package comes with plenty of aesthetic upgrades, the most notable improvement Carlsson made on the S-Class is an engine tweak that took the output of the car’s 5.5-liter 12-cylinder bi-turbo engine from the standard 517 horsepower all the way up to 600 horsepower. These power figures allowed it a 0-62 mph time of 4.3 seconds and a mighty impressive top speed of 198 mph. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, Carlsson is also offering an engine package for the powerful S63 AMG, taking its output from 571 ponies all the way up to 684 HP.

The numbers are staggering for a luxury car like the Mercedes S-Class, but there’s more to Carlsson’s program than just an increased engine output. There are also plenty of aesthetic improvements, including an aero kit that features a new front lip, a boor lid spoiler, and front and rear aprons. The tuner also threw in new stainless steel grille inserts, four new headlights, a series of LED daytime running lights, a C-Tronic lowering kit that drops the car’s height by 30 mm, and a set of Carlsson’s own 1/10 Brilliant Edition alloy wheels measured in either 19" or 20".[...]
