The Pontiac Solstice, together with its brethren, have long flown into the direction of the sunset after General Motors officially dissolved the brand last year. But even if production of the Solstice and all other Pontiac models have already ceased, it doesn?t mean that you can?t turn the little Pontiac sports car into something completely different.

For that to happen, we may need to start familiarizing ourselves with kit cars. If you haven?t been introduced to that concept, kit cars are basically cars that are purchased and assembled separately. More often than not, cars used for this purpose are those that have already been discontinued ? the Solstice qualifies on that regard ? and taking the shape and chassis of the kit car while using the same base plate, suspension, engine, and gearbox of the car that was used.[...]

The 2011 24 Hours of Nurburgring is still months away, but even now, we’re already seeing teams introduce their stallions for the grueling endurance race.

One team that’s scheduled to participate in the event will be the FALKEN Motorsport Team, which will be fielding a custom, race-ready Porsche 911 GT3 R.. There’s no denying that the competition at the 24 Hours of Nurburging is going to be as tough as it’s ever been. FALKEN will need to be on its A-game with their development of the car leading up to the race this June 25-26, 2011.[...]

For a car that has many Porsche enthusiasts up in arms, the Porsche Panamera isn’t scaring away any tuners from modifying the luxury sports sedan inside and out. We’ve seen kits from Mansory, Vorsteiner, Edo Competition, and many more, but we have a feeling that none of these tuning kits will hold a candle to the amount of carbon fiber that is juts oozing out og TechArt’s new kit for the Panamera.

Dressed in head to toe carbon fiber, TechArt’s Porsche Panamera GrandGT is nothing short of CB heaven. We’re talking a new front apron with a front grill insert and splitter, a rear diffuser, the gurney flap of the dominant rear spoiler, and the air ducts at the flanks of the car all made up of this highly touted material. The use of carbon fiber has lead to an impressive dimensional stability, great strength, and a low intrinsic weight.[...]

The Tokyo Auto Salon is Japan's equivalent of North America's largest tuning event, the SEMA show, and like its Las Vegas counterpart, the Tokyo event attract myriads of independent tuners as well as major automakers. In fact there are so many new production and conceptual proposals that it's virtually impossible to report on each and every custom...

It could be argued ? and the car does present a strong case for itself - that the Audi R8 Spyder is one of the most tuner-friendly supercars in the world today. Not only does the car look drop-dead amazing on its own, but it?s got an overall package that is ripe to be tuned-up. We?ve seen a number of aftermarket companies put in their own renditions of a modded R8 Spyder and now, German tuning company Sport Wheels is ready to dive back into the pool with their new R8 Spyder project called the "Red Spark"[...]

[Updated gallery] The Tokyo Auto Salon is always a blast featuring all sorts of unique tuning proposals, like this here Porsche wannabe. When our Tokyo show man Phil e-mailed the above photo, we assumed it pictured a Porsche -possibly a Boxster- modified to resemble a Panamera Convertible. We were quickly proven wrong, however, when he sent over[...]

Luxury tuner, Mansory, is taking another stab at Porsche’s odd little sedan with a new tuning package for the Porsche Panamera coming out of one of their most important dealers: PrestigeCars.ae. Right off the bat, anyone can see that the brightest addition to the special edition Panamera Mansory Bright Yellow Edition is that luminous yellow exterior paint job, but what we can’t see without hopping in and taking it for a drive is the impressive engine update provided for the sporty sedan.

The name says it all when talking about the exterior paint color, but another notable feature is the blue carbon fiber thrown into the mix. Yellow is then brought back with the new set of wheels painted in the sunny color. Thank goodness we are not tired of that color combo just yet as the tuner has also brought the same color design to the interior. Apparently this edition was created at the request of a client who wanted a special Panamera. All we have to say is that they definitely got what they asked for, and we expect what they paid plenty for as well[...]
